Radio Controlled Airplanes and the Excitement They Bring

Short of flying an actual airplane, there is little that one can do to that provides the feeling of freedom the way flying an RC plane does. That is why the radio control airplane hobby has been such a popular one for so long, and why it has progressed so much since its humble beginnings, as so many passionate hobbyists have made contributions in the field. Nowadays there are RC model airplanes with built in cameras and first person view, the capability of carrying external cameras, the ability to carry out mind boggling maneuvers, and many of them are seemingly in no way bound by a need for proximity to the control. The best part may be that many of these extraordinary radio control planes are ready or almost ready to fly right out of the box!

Here's some terminology you might not be familiar with. Radio Control Plane kits are sold basically 4 ways.

RTF - Ready to Fly means the kit is fully assembled (some minor assembly might be required) and that everything you need to fly is in the box.

BNF - Bind-N-Fly means the kit is just like a Ready to Fly, but does not include a transmitter. The reason for this is so that you can select a high quality radio, and use it on many different aircraft models rather than buy a new radio each time. If you need help picking a radio for a BNF plane please let us know.

ARF - Almost Ready to Fly means the kit is just a basic airframe and you will need to most likely do some building and purchase additional items to complete the kit. ARF kits are for advanced pilots with building and prior flying experience.

FPV - (First Person View) is an all-new feature in radio control! Why is it so cool? A camera is included in the aircraft that transmits live video back to your radio so you can see what your aircraft sees, just like you were in the cockpit. Join the FPV Revolution today!
